Watershed

One way we’re trying to embody Belonging, Inquiring, and Transforming at Willow is through inquiring about how to be better inhabitants of the watershed in which our church is located.

In the fall of 2024, Willow hosted a three-part series: Living Faithfully in our Watershed (video recordings of those sessions are available at the bottom of the page). Beginning in May of 2025, we’ll be learning more about What’s Happening in Our Watershed by featuring a monthly plant and a bird from our watershed to help us get to know the more-than-human kin among us (special thanks to Kevin Enns-Rempel for the list of birds and to Michael Kunz for the list of plants!). We’ve commissioned Mady Neufeld to create line drawings of the birds and plants that will be suitable for coloring. Click each image below for more information about the bird and plant of the month, including downloadable images suitable for printing and coloring. If you’d like to sponsor the image of a bird or a plant for a particular month, email brian@willowmennonite.org.

In the second session, Rachel Friesen, M.A., presents stories of Hope and New Possibilities in our Watershed. In the third session, Dr. Laura Schmidt Roberts presents the idea of Watershed Discipleship to frame faithfully living in light of what we learned.
